Zuju Bog is a low bog located about 5 km south-eastwards from Mērdzene, on the Zilupes valley.

Area: 945 ha

The average depth of the peat layer is 1.1 m; the deepest layer is at 3.2 m.

Total deposit of peat: 10.4 mil.m3

Peat is medium and well decayed; under the peat there is sapropel. Draining ditches cross the bog and take the waters to the Strauja River, the Čodorānu River and the Silagaiļu stream. 267 ha were drained. 650 ha are overgrown with forest.
