Šķaunes Lake
Lake Šķaunes is located in Dagdas elevation of the Latgales upland, in Istra parish of Ludza municipality. It is at 148 m above sea level.
It is a rectangular lake, in the northern part the lake is wider. The shores mostly are sloping and low. The bottom is uneven, in the eastern part it is mainly sandy. In the western part the bottom is sludgy. The north-western, western and south-eastern parts are shallow (depth < 2 m), the northern and eastern parts are deeper. There is an outflow stream to Lake Ilza. The lake is eutrophic. It hosts pike, perch, bream, tench, eel.

Length: 2.6 km, max. width: 1.3 km.
Average depth: 5.7 m, max. depth: 12.6 m.
Basin: 10.7 km2 (it belongs to the basin of the Velikaya River)
