Small Ludza Lake (Mazais Ludzas Lake) is locates on the edge of the Latgale upland, in Ludza town; it is 132.9 m above sea level.

The lake is long; its eastern part is narrower and deeper. The shores mostly are steep; at the ends they are low and peaty. It is a running-water lake: in the west the Plītnīca River is flowing from Zvirgzdenes Lake and in the east there is an outgoing channel to Big Ludza Lake.

Area: 36.5 ha

Length: 1.5 km, max. width: 0.6 km.

Average depth: 1.3 m, max. depth 2.5 m.

Basin: 70.3 km2 (The lake belongs to the basin of the Narvas River)
