Lake Zeiļu is located in Rēzekne plain of the Latgales upland, in Isnauda parish of Ludza municipality. It is at 134.7 m above sea level.

The 50 m wide narrowing divides the lake into 2 parts – the western part is round, but the eastern part is stretching from the north to the south. The shores are low and sloping, in the eastern part are steep in some places.

The bottom is covered with a thick layer of sludge and sapropel. There are reeds, and marshy forest.

There is an inflow from the west – from Lakes Dukānu and Soidu; an outflow goes to the north-east to Paborga. It is a eutrophic lake, overgrown with algae.

Area: 44.8 ha

Length: 1.8 km, max. width: 0.6 km.

Average depth: 1.1 m, max. depth: 1.6 m.

Basin: 20.5 km2 (the lake belongs to the basin of the Velikaya River)
